Aurica Capital, Banc Sabadell’s venture capital manager, has taken a 40% stake in Delta Tecnic, a manufacturer of masterbatchs (capsules for additives and pigments for plastics) based in Sant Celoni.Delta Tecnics was founded in 1982 by Salvador Torras and Martí Baqués, to market raw materials in the plastics, cables, inks, paints and cosmetics sectors. In 1989, Delta Tecnic founded the Deltacolor Masterbatch division for the manufacture of masterbatches for the cable and PVC sectors. The company, with a workforce of about 130 people and with little indebtedness, makes about 40 million, of which 50% corresponds to exports to 50 countries.

Aurica, specializing in capital expansion, will accompany the process of growth and internationalization of the company, initially organic, and subsequently not ruled out acquisitions. The goal is to double the size of Delta Tecnic in the next four or five years, says Ivan Plaza, director of Aurica Capital.

Ivan Plaza and Raúl Rodríguez, Director of BS Capital, will join the board of directors of Delta Tecnic, while Pablo Pérez Caldaya, Aurica’s investment director, will be on the company’s management committee.

Aurica Capital, with more than 300 million euros in assets under management, specializes in taking minority stakes in Spanish companies with growth and internationalization plans. The manager has made more than 20 investments, for a total of more than 400 million euros, since its foundation. The investment in Delta Tecnic was made through the Aurica III fund, which is still in the stage of attracting institutional investors and family offices.

Previously, Aurica has accompanied growth stages of familiar Catalan companies such as Eurofragance, Fluidra or Intermas.
